WHAT IS THE MONKEYPOX COCKTAIL?

On July 23rd, 2022, the World Health Organization designated Monkeypox as a “public health emergency of international concern”.  This statement and the recent worldwide spread of Monkeypox has many people worried.

Monkeypox is from the Poxviridae family of double stranded DNA viruses. This virus has historically found in Africa although as of late, outbreaks have occurred in Europe and North America. A distinct pox rash is often preceded by exhaustion, fever and chills. (Read more about the characteristics of viruses.)

Like influenza, measles, and SARS-CoV2, including Long COVID, very few effective treatment options exist for viruses. Exploration of compounds from the natural world may be our most promising hope for effective therapies.

Three following three herbs used in combination could prove very useful in Monkeypox as they have been in other pox viruses.

  •  Licorice (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

Licorice root is a well-known and potent antiviral herb. It has been used for thousands of years in China for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-tumor, and anti-viral properties. Taken as a tea, tincture, or a capsule this is one of the more pleasant tasting medicinal herbs.

Although generally non-toxic; don’t take this one by itself for extended periods of time. It’s ability to synergize with other herbs make it the first ingredient in our Monkeypox cocktail.

People with hypertension, kidney disease and hormone imbalances should consult their doctor before taking Glycyrrhiza.

Dosage for acute infections in adults:

Tincture: 30-60 drops 3x per day

Capsules: 4,000mg in three divided doses

Tea: One cup 4-6x per day

  •  Isatis (Isatis Tinctoria)

This plants’ roots and leaves increase immune response to pox family viruses and are best used in a decoction or tincture.

Not nearly as tasty as some other herbs, this plant combines very well with licorice and these make an excellent combination to help treat any of the pox family viruses.

Adult Tincture: 30-60 three times per day

  • Chinese skullcap (Scuttellaria Baicalensis)

This root of this herb has one of the widest ranges of effectiveness against a variety of viruses. It is synergetic with many antibiotics, anti-fungals and antiviral drugs making a good addition to an immune plan for viruses.

Chinese skullcap up-regulates the production of our inborn immune cells and can help boost an immune system to work against pox viruses.

Adult Tincture: 30-60 drops three times per day
